and nearly killed him was found to be his ``close associate,'' who was engaged in the ``business of sex,'' a spokesman from Beijing's municipal public security bureau told local media on Wednesday. The suspect, Guan Ming, 26 years old and coming from Northeast China's Liaoning Province, is now put under police custody, the spokesman told a squad of local press at the city police headquarters Wednesday night.
`We arrested Guan at a suburban house in Fengtai District, west Beijing, at around 21 pm on November 26,'' the spokesman said, adding the suspect had admitted he carried out the attack on Mao.
Guan came to Beijing in March, and had been in the business of pornography. He has known Mao for ``quite a long time,'' the spokesman said. He refused to identify whether the two were homosexuals.
At 21:30 pm on November 22 at a quiet lane in East Beijing's Chaoyang District, Mao Ning, one of China's most popular male singers, was stabbed three times in the abdomen, chest and shoulder, and lost more than 1,000 milliliters of blood before an emergency operation at the city's Chaoyang Hospital.
Police said Mao had offered contradictory revelations, which could put him to shoulder legal liabilities.
His agent, the Beijing-based Yidian Company, disclosed on November 24 to the press that Mao was attacked by three men who he never knew. However, police investigation found out Guan is the sole assaulter, who knew Mao Ning quite well. China Daily
