RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazilian striker Ronaldo has made a pact with coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to score seven goals in the World Cup, Brazilian sports daily Lance reported Monday.

The striker has kept the average of one goal in Brazil's first two matches with Turkey and China and intends to keep this performance until the World Cup final, Kyodo News reported.

''We have made a pact for him to score a goal in each match until the final game in Yokohama on June 30,'' the daily quoted Scolari as saying.

The striker has told the daily he plans to be the cup's top scorer and the goals ''are happening naturally'' and hopes to keep the average in the match with Costa Rica on Thursday.

Miroslav Klose of Germany is currently the top goal-scorer at four goals after Monday's matches. Jon Dahl Tomasson of Denmark, Christian Vieri of Italy, and Pauleta of Portugal follow Klose with three goals. Ronaldo is one of seven strikers who have scored two goals.

Ronaldo scored four goals in the 1998 World Cup in France and will become Brazil's second main scorer in the competition if he manages to live up to the promise. Soccer icon Pele is Brazil's No. 1 scorer in World Cups with 12 goals.

He is slowly recovering his full physical and technical condition after two knee surgeries, which have kept him over a year away from soccer, and hopes the World Cup will inaugurate a new, prosperous age in his career.

The daily has quoted Ronaldo's manager as saying the player may leave Inter Milan if the Italian club does not agree to raise his annual salary after the World Cup.

The manager has held talks with ''people connected to Spanish club Real Madrid,'' which reportedly is willing to pay Ronaldo an annual salary above the current $3.9 million, he makes in Italy according to the daily.
