2005-02-06
MADRID, Spain - Ronaldo won't play in Brazil's forthcoming friendly against Hong Kong, his Spanish soccer club, Real Madrid, said Sunday. The striker has been excused from appearing in Wednesday's match in China as it would have been his second long journey in recent days. Ronaldo visited Brazil last weekend, with Spanish media reports saying he had gone to visit his sick brother. ``After such a long trip an agreement has been reached not to include the Brazilian for the Asian date,'' Madrid said on its Web site. Madrid's other Brazilian player, Roberto Carlos, will make the journey. Ronaldo played in Madrid's 4-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday which lifted it to within four points of Spanish league leader FC Barcelona.
