Bello, Butler join Brosnan for 'Butterfly'

LOS ANGELES - Maria Bello and Gerard Butler have signed on to star opposite Pierce Brosnan in the indie thriller "Butterfly on a Wheel."Bello ("A History of Violence") and Butler ("The Phantom of the Opera") play a happily married suburban couple whose life unravels when their 5-year-old daughter is kidnapped. Brosnan will play the kidnapper. Filming is set to begin in March in Vancouver. Mike Barker ("Best Laid Plans") will direct from a script by William Morrissey. Mel Gibson's Icon Entertainment International owns worldwide rights, excluding Canada. Bello, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as a happily married small-town wife in "A History of Violence," next appears in Oliver Stone's untitled World Trade Center film for Paramount Pictures. Butler's credits also include "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life." Reuters/Hollywood Reporter
