Jamie Foxx is finely tuned for 'Soloist'
2007-08-17
Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx is tuning up for a new role in a bio-pic about a musical prodigy, it was reported on Friday. Foxx, who scooped a best actor Academy Award in 2005 for his portrayal of soul legend Ray Charles in "Ray," is to portray talented musician Nathaniel Ayers in "The Soloist," Daily Variety reported. Ayers was a student at the prestigious Juilliard performing arts school who developed schizophrenia before ending up homeless on the streets of Los Angeles playing a violin and a cello. Foxx, a classically trained pianist, is being taught stringed instruments by a cellist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Variety reported. Work on the film will get underway in January.
