Diving-Tian and Yang give China second diving gold

ATHENS - Tian Liang and Yang Jinghui completed a Chinese diving double on Saturday when they won the men's synchronised 10 metre platform gold medal.An hour earlier, Guo Jinjing and Wu Minxia had taken the women's synchronised three-metre springboard gold to give China four golds on the opening day after winning two in shooting. Tian, the Olympic individual highboard champion, and his new partner scooped three perfect 10s for synchronisation on their fourth dive, a three-and-half somersault tuck which earned a mighty 92.16 points. Peter Waterfield and Leon Taylor picked up Britain's first medal of the Games when they took silver, with world champions Matthew Helm and Robert Newbery taking bronze for Australia. Newbery's new wife Chantelle earlier took bronze in the women's springboard event.
