SHANGHAI (AFP) - A Danish-Swedish comedy about mental illness has won the best picture at the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival, according to organisers. The film festival's top prize, the Jin Jue -- or the golden goblet -- went to the independent film "Original", which also took the best actor award for lead Sverrir Gudnason at the ceremony Sunday night. The jury for the nine-day festival, one of the largest of its kind in Asia, was headed by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle and also included US actress Andie MacDowell and Hong Kong director Andrew Lau. The jury described "Original" as "a light, touching and subversive study of mental illness that is compassionate and never sentimental". Best actress award went to Simone Tang for Denmark's "Aching Hearts", the story of a rocky relationship between two high school sweethearts. Czech filmmaker Julius Sevcik won best director for "Normal", a dark study of a serial killer, and Tibetan film maker Pema Tseden's "The Search" was awarded the Jury Grand Prix. Lifetime achievement honours were awarded to American music legend Quincy Jones and French actress Isabelle Huppert at the ceremony.
