Dodgers' Lowe keeps Bonds stuck at 751

Derek Lowe can say he's had as much success as any pitcher against Barry Bonds. Lowe held the Giants' slugger hitless in three more at-bats and stuck on 751 home runs, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won their 10th straight game in San Francisco on Rafael Furcal's sacrifice fly in the 12th inning of an 8-7 victory Saturday. Bonds grounded out twice and struck out against Lowe, falling to 0-for-11 in his career against the right-hander. The only other pitcher Bonds has faced without getting a hit in at least that many at-bats is former Pirate Chris Peters, who also held Bonds hitless in 11 at-bats from 1996-99. "He's going to get you at times," Lowe said. "It's not like this streak is going to go on forever. There will be times he will get his hits. You just have to be aggressive against him." In other NL games Saturday, it was: Mets 2, Reds 1; Cubs 9, Astros 3; Phillies 10, Cardinals 4; Braves 5, Pirates 4; Marlins 5, Nationals 2; Brewers 2, Rockies 1 in 10 innings; and Diamondbacks 5, Padres 4. Bonds struck out in the seventh inning against Joe Beimel and grounded out in the 11th against Mark Hendrickson in his first 0-for-5 game since Sept. 26, 2005. Bonds is hitless in his last 13 at-bats and has not homered since July 3 at Cincinnati, remaining four shy of tying Hank Aaron's record of 755. "There's not one pitch to get him out on, there's not one location to get him out on," Lowe said. "The main thing is you have to throw strikes. He has such a tremendous eye at the plate that you can't nitpick." Bonds did walk to lead off the ninth against All-Star closer Takashi Saito and scored the tying run on Pedro Feliz's two-out RBI single. Saito has blown three of 26 save chances. But the Dodgers still rallied to win after blowing leads of 6-0 and 7-2. James Loney started the winning rally with a leadoff double in the 12th against Pat Misch (0-1) and went to third when Wilson Betemit's popup landed just fair down the right-field line for a single. After a groundout put runners on second and third, Misch intentionally walked pinch-hitter Nomar Garciaparra to load the bases. Furcal then hit a fly ball to medium depth in right field, but Loney easily beat Fred Lewis' throw home to score the go-ahead run. Hendrickson (4-4) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Rudy Seanez worked the 12th for his first save since June 23, 2001, for San Diego. Jeff Kent and Betemit homered in a six-run fifth for the Dodgers, who are on their longest winning streak in a road ballpark since beating the Giants 13 straight times at Candlestick Park from 1976-77. "It's a good atmosphere," Loney said. "It's like playing at Dodgers Stadium. It's fun playing here. We get a lot of our fans out here." San Francisco rallied late behind Randy Winn's sixth career grand slam with two outs in the eighth inning against Chin-Hui Tsao that cut the lead to 7-6. The shot down the right-field line came on the first pitch after Winn fouled a ball off his foot, prompting the trainer to come out to tend to him. Winn left the game with a bruised right foot after limping around the bases on his homer. "He was hurting," manager Bruce Bochy said. "That was the hit we've been looking for. It lifted the whole team. Unfortunately we couldn't get that last run. To make that comeback and fall short, that's hard for the team, for me and for the fans." Mets 2, Reds 1 NEW YORK (AP) -- Tom Glavine earned his 298th win with a superb performance, and Lastings Milledge's tiebreaking single with two outs in the eighth inning sent the Mets over the Reds. Glavine (8-6) allowed only two hits, including Brandon Phillips' homer, in eight innings. He struck out five and walked none, improving to 27-12 against Cincinnati. The two-time Cy Young Award winner is closing in on becoming the 22nd major league pitcher to win 300 games. Shawn Green hit an RBI single and scored the go-ahead run for the Mets, who won for the fourth time in 11 games this month. Matt Belisle held New York in check for seven innings, nearly preventing Glavine from taking home a win. The right-hander stranded eight runners before the Mets came through against reliever Mike Stanton (1-3). Cubs 9, Astros 3 CHICAGO (AP) -- Ted Lilly won his fourth straight start, Aramis Ramirez had four RBIs and Alfonso Soriano hit a three-run homer for the Cubs. Lilly (9-4), who hasn't lost since June 5, gave up four hits and a run over eight innings to help Chicago win for the 14th time in 18 games. The left-hander walked one, struck out seven and added a run-scoring single in the sixth for his third major league RBI. Soriano followed with his homer to left, his team-leading 16th of the season, to finish Roy Oswalt (8-6). The right-hander, who was on the NL All-Star team, gave up 10 hits and a season-high nine runs in 5 1-3 innings. Phillies 10, Cardinals 4 PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard and Aaron Rowand homered, Pat Burrell added four RBIs and Philadelphia avoided its 10,000th loss again. Rowand had four hits, Rollins and Burrell had three hits apiece and Chase Utley knocked in two runs for the Phillies, who had 14 hits a day after compiling a season-high 23. The highest-scoring team in the National League scored a run in five of the first six innings. Cole Hamels (11-4) matched Chicago's Carlos Zambrano as the only 11-game winners in the NL, though the lefty was clearly without his best stuff. He gave up four runs in six innings and overtook Jake Peavy for the league's strikeout lead (126-125). Mike Maroth (0-2) gave up nine hits and eight runs -- six earned -- in five innings. Braves 5, Pirates 4 ATLANTA (AP) -- Jeff Francoeur hit a bases-loaded single with two outs in the ninth inning, giving the Braves a victory over the Pirates. Willie Harris led off the ninth with an infield single that bounced off reliever Shawn Chacon's foot, and Harris moved to second on Yunel Escobar's sacrifice. Edgar Renteria popped out before Chacon (4-2) issued an intentional walk to Chipper Jones. The runners advanced to second and third on Chacon's wild pitch to Andruw Jones, who walked on a 3-2 pitch. Francoeur then hit a 2-1 pitch up the middle to drive in the winning run. Bob Wickman (2-2) worked a scoreless ninth for the victory. Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer for Atlanta. Marlins 5, Nationals 2 MIAMI (AP) -- Miguel Cabrera hit one of Florida's three home runs and Sergio Mitre pitched effectively into the eighth inning, leading the Marlins past the Nationals. Jeremy Hermida and Josh Willingham also connected against rookie Matt Chico (4-6), who dropped to 0-5 on the road. Mitre (4-4) won at home with Florida for the first time in 15 career appearances at Dolphin Stadium, including 11 starts. Kevin Gregg worked a perfect ninth for his 19th save in 20 chances. Brewers 2, Rockies 1, 10 innings MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Pinch-hitter Tony Graffanino's bloop single scored Geoff Jenkins from third with one out in the 10th inning, and the Brewers beat the Rockies despite losing All-Star Ben Sheets to a sprained finger on his pitching hand. Derrick Turnbow (2-3) pitched a scoreless 10th for the victory. Jenkins broke an 0-for-14 slump by hitting the first pitch in the 10th off LaTroy Hawkins (0-4) to the left-center field wall for a double. Tony Gwynn grounded out to second, moving Jenkins to third. With the infield in, Graffanino hit a soft fly that landed a few feet past the infield in center field, dropping easily for a single and allowing Jenkins to score. Diamondbacks 5, Padres 4 PHOENIX (AP) -- Chad Tracy singled home the winning run in the eighth as the Diamondbacks rallied to defeat San Diego. The Diamondbacks had managed one run -- and two hits -- against Chris Young, who left after throwing 96 pitches through six innings. They had better luck against Heath Bell in the seventh, ripping him for three runs and five sharp singles in a third of an inning. Stephen Drew and Mark Reynolds each hit sacrifice flies and Miguel Montero singled in a run to tie the game at 4-4. Orlando Hudson led off the eighth with a double down the left-field line off Scott Linebrink (2-2). One out later, Tracy singled up the middle to score Hudson. Brandon Lyon (6-3) pitched a scoreless eighth and Jose Valverde pitched the ninth for his 27th save in 30 chances, tying Milwaukee's Francisco Cordero for the major league lead.
